Typically, my vodka of choice is either Grey Goose or Belvedere. Both of these are very smooth, with a distinct lack of the peppery feel on the tongue you get with Stoli and several other semi-premium brands.

I want to give you my honest opinion of a much less expensive Vodka today, one from, of all places, Texas.

Tito's Handmade Vodka is micro-distilled in the only legal brewery in Texas, located just outside of Austin, Texas, the vodka is small batch manufactured in an old fashioned pot still.

The first thing you notice about Tito's is the price. At a local liquor store, Grey Goose sells for $23.99 per 750ml and Tito's is $18.99.

An interesting article about the history of Tito's is
here.

In a word, Tito's is excellent. Slightly more medicinal aftertaste than Grey Goose, but still an incredible drink. Some reviewers have remarked that it lacks flavor, but I disagree. to me, Tito's is almost the perfect example of vodka. Not only does it mix well, but it is also excellent straight. not quite as smooth as the Chopin Potato Vodka, it also lacks the "oily" feel and sweet taste associated with the vodkas made from the potato.

I would rank this vodka a 9 out of 10, just below Grey Goose and, for the money, a better value. it is one of the two that can usually be found in my freezer and is the vodka I use when I entertain a large number of people.
