Why Smoke Cigars?

A couple of years ago my wife, my best friend, and his wife went on a cruise through the Caribbean. At that time I was not nor had I ever been a smoker.
Each night on the way to dinner we would pass by the Cigar Bar and hear people inside laughing and talking. I have always had an affinity for dark wood and leather chairs, which accurately described the bar.
After a couple of days I could stand it no longer and announced I was going to try a cigar. Both wives declined, but my amigo chose to accompany me.
The Cigar Bar was all that I thought it would be including expensive. The hostesses were Russian (Love that accent!) and very helpful. They helped me choose a Davidoff Lonsdale and suggested a glass of Cognac with it. While I am very familiar with vodka, bourbon, and numerous other distilled spirits both brandy and cognac were beyond me so the ladies arranged a tasting of each of the grades so that I could taste the difference.
In addition to having a beautiful, exotic woman wait on me hand and foot (the experience of having her light my cigar using a cedar strip was for some reason incredibly...ahem...erotic) the other patrons were also very nice. We spent some time speaking with an elderly gentlemen who shared a great deal of knowledge about my new found vice (the cigar, not the Russian babe) and all in all had a great time.
To me, while this was the best smoking experience I have had, all my cigar experiences have been pleasant. As a trial lawyer with an incredible number of irons in the fire, both personally and professionally, I have little time to sit back and enjoy myself yet, if you smoke a cigar, this is exactly what you have to do.
One of my favorite times is in the late afternoon when I will retire to the bench in front of my office to light a cigar and watch the world pass by.
You simply cannot smoke a cigar in a hurry. You must move at the cigar's pace, not the world's.
That's why I choose to smoke cigars. I enjoy the taste but, more importantly, I enjoy the forced relaxation. A good cigar epitomizes the luxurious lifestyle which includes time to enjoy it.
