I was saddened to read this morning that Steve Irwin, 44, star of the Crocodile Hunter and a number of other nature shows was killed this morning at a reef just off Port Douglas on Australia's norther coast.

Irwin, 44, was killed by a stingray barb that pierced his chest and went into his heart, according to Cairns police sources.

Whether you liked his television shows or not, you have to admire the joy with which he lived life and did his job.

At 44, Steve was right in the age group that this website was designed for. I suggest we all get quaff a can of Fosters beer, doff our hats, and say a "Crikey" in honor of Irwin.

The world is a sadder place without him.
