I think I know.

I was talking to a young woman recently, either her late 20s or her early thirties and she made the comment that she liked older men. I knew she was talking about me (in an abstract way, she wasn't hitting on me) and it stunned me to realize that she thought of me as an "older man".

Because I didn't think of myself that way.

I mean, older guys don't think of themselves as teen agers obviously. Or even int he early twenties, but once you get into the out of college, really grown up age group that's where we tend to think of ourselves.

So that's why you may see a 40-50 year old guy with a late twenties babe and he acts like it's not a big thing. It's because in his mind he's still at that age and just dating an available peer.

Then again, it could just be because he knows it is making his friends' envious.
